Our credit cards are Mastercard, so you can use them almost everywhere:
- Buy things online – wherever you see the Mastercard sign.
- Buy things in-store – it’s contactless, so just tap to pay.
- Take cash out of cash machines – you’ll be charged a fee to do so, though.
Want your card for abroad?
- You can use your card worldwide wherever you see the Mastercard sign.
- When you return home, your credit card statement will show what you bought and how much cash you took out – in local currency, plus the cost exchanged into pounds.
- Some of our credit cards charge a small percentage to cover the foreign exchange fee.
APR stands for ‘Annual Percentage Rate’.
It’s an easy way for you to compare the cost of credit cards.
That’s because it gives you the full cost of borrowing, including:
- The yearly cost of borrowing (the interest you’d pay).
- Plus, any extra charges (like an annual fee).

Yes, we often ask for ID to make sure we’re opening the right account for the right person.
To help you get your credit card faster, we work with Mitek, who check your ID in a safe, quick way.
Mitek could ask you for:
- Photo ID – like a driver’s licence, passport, or EU ID card.
- A short video or selfie – to compare with your photo ID.
- Proof of address – think a driver’s licence, utility bill, bank statement, or tax documents.
Section 75 of the Consumer Credit Card Act 1974 is an act that covers purchases made by credit cards.
The effect of Section 75 of the Consumer Credit Act 1974 is that where payments is made for goods or services using a credit card, any claim against the supplier is respect of misrepresentation or breach of contract, he shall have a like claim against the Bank, who, with the supplier, shall be jointly and severally liable to the debtor.
To be able to raise a claim you have to provide documentation or tangible evidence to prove your claim under this Act.
If your claim is being raised under Section 75 of the consumer credit act it will be necessary for you to contact the Disputes team for guidance. Regrettably claims of this nature cannot be raised using the online form service.
