Developing curiosity

Our careers podcast

Listen to this podcast that explores the importance of developing curiosity. This is an important skill to understand and build in any situation.

Putting it into practice

In the podcast we talked about being interested vs being interesting – what does this mean to you?

Being curious helps give us perspectives that are different from our own. This can be helpful, especially when problem solving. When did you last have to solve a problem? Did you show curiosity to understand the issues?

So how do we get more curious?

  • Ask questions, questions, and more questions, then play back to make sure you’re understood.
  • Get others views and opinions – particularly if they are different from your own.
  • Be mindful of yours and other’s situations and show empathy.

And remember what Albert Einstein had to say:

‘I have no special talent, I am only passionately curious’
