How to protect yourself

  • Your bank or the police will never ask you to transfer money to a safe account or ask for your full PIN, password or passcode – hang up if someone asks you for any personal information.
  • If you’re unsure whether a call in genuine, hang up and call back using a trusted number such as the number on their website.
  • Take your time. Don't be rushed into giving out your information or making unexpected payments or transfers.
  • Tell us straight away if you've given any of your details out or think you may be the victim of fraud or a scam.
  • Register for biometrics within the app as an extra level of security which helps to protect you against fraud.

What to do if you get caught out?

If you think you’ve been targeted by criminals, report it. Call the bank using the number on the back of your card, or from the numbers on our website. You can also dial 159 to be connected securely to your bank.
